Joomla is Content Management System (CMS) software, which enables you to build Web sites and powerful online applications. Many aspects, including its ease-of-use and extensibility, have made Joomla the most popular Web site software available. Best of all, Joomla is an open source solution that is freely available to everyone.

How will Joomla help us to build a website?

Joomla is designed to be easy to install and set up even if you're not a developer or advanced user. Many Web hosting services offer a single-click install, getting your new site up and running in just a few minutes. Since Joomla is so easy to use, as a Web designer or developer, you can quickly build sites. If your clients need specialized functionality, Joomla is highly extensible and thousands of extensions (like a plugins) are available in the Joomla Extensions Directory.

Joomla already is a rich featured content management system, but if you're building a website with Joomla and you need extra features which aren't available in Joomla by default, you can easily extend it with extensions (like as component, plugin, template, module and language extensions) and each of these extensions handle specific functionality.

Features of Joomla! Content Management System

Joomla is so much more than just a powerful content management system. Joomla has lots of features but the true power of Joomla is in its extensibility.  Let’s see the Joomla features list.

How does Joomla Work?

Joomla Content Management System handles content separately from formatting. If you have used another web authoring tool or hand coded web pages, you may be familiar with cascading style sheets (CSS) as a way of standardizing format of text and graphics. Joomla uses CSS, but instead of storing this information in the content files, it is stored with the Template Files. On the other hand, the content (text, images, etc) is stored in the MySQL database that runs Joomla.
