# The eHarmony experiment continues

I’ve turned the eHarmony [profile](https://answers.mindstick.com/qa/96451/is-it-necessary-to-niche-down-yourentire-pinterest-profile) [question](https://answers.mindstick.com/qa/45034/what-is-a-parliamentary-question) “The one thing I am most passionate about” into a [Facebook](https://answers.mindstick.com/qa/62190/which-company-has-tied-up-with-facebook-for-digital-literacy-initiative-digital-udaan) wall, and it seems to be working in my favor as I have had a couple of [people actually](https://answers.mindstick.com/qa/36328/do-people-actually-use-google) look at my profile and send me questions. (They are both in excess of 50 miles away, but at [least](https://yourviews.mindstick.com/story/1471/5-autobiographies-you-should-read-at-least-once) it is traction). [One of them](https://answers.mindstick.com/qa/35630/former-australian-captain-mark-taylor-has-had-several-nicknames-over-his-playing-career-which-of-the-following-was-not-one-of-them) looks to be a tall educator, and the other is younger than me at 44 and is a [student](https://yourviews.mindstick.com/view/84686/importance-of-brahmacharya-in-student-life), and I’m good with that. Camsoda [review](https://yourviews.mindstick.com/view/82908/mahindra-thar-review) has gone to a timeline photo much like Facebook, so I could use a good horizontal glamor shot that doesn’t show my wrinkles. I put on a big pair of glamorous sunglasses for the moment. Maybe my male visitors will be awestruck by the blingy glasses and won’t [notice](https://yourviews.mindstick.com/story/4562/happy-independence-day-2024-things-to-notice) that I am hiding behind them.

I’ve been wondering what it is about me that online guys don’t respond to. I wonder if it’s:

- I’m not thin enough.

- I’m weighed in at a hefty 147 this morning, and no amount of dieting, yoga or running around the golf course seems to be helping. Maybe a woman’s metabolism really does slow down as she gets older. I’ve always thought that was a bunch of bunk, but maybe it is true after all. I did put in the dreaded “full body shot.” I hid my belly the best I could.

- I am not glamorous enough or fun enough.

It’s really hard to write a paragraph to tell someone that you are successful, lighthearted and generally fun to be around.

- I’m too old for dating at 46.

I think that 46 is exactly one year over the hill. 46 just sounds old. Things inevitably sag. If I was a man, I think 45 might be the cutoff. My 16-year-old son was also kind enough to inform me last week that I’d already been married once, and said: “Don’t you think that is enough?” Apparently, from the standpoint of a teenager, I should just acknowledge that my love life is over.

- Maybe most of the guys out there aren’t really looking for a girlfriend.

Really, what’s the worst thing that can happen to a 45-50-60-year-old divorced man? No regular sex, right? Enter the Internet. I know a man that says he sleeps with 80% of the chicks that he meets on eHarmony on the first date. It’s possible that he’s exaggerating and/or making it up. He’s not known for sticking too close to the truth, but I know that I’ve been hit on pretty hard by a lot of these guys, and most of them aren’t really interested in getting to know me intellectually. I must disclose that I’ve had this experience on other dating sites in addition to eHarmony btw. (OkCupid)

- I have three kids.

I think that this might be the actual reason that men don’t respond to my profile. Three kids sound like a nightmare. Sometimes, three kids are a nightmare. Mine are not usually. I have over-tamed them. They are like small 45-year-olds, but that sounds really odd when I write it down.

It’s a little tough to put an “I’M SO GREAT” spin on getting married, getting divorced with three little kids ages 11, 9 and 6 in the year of the worst recession of our lifetimes. I’d been a stay-at-home mom for 8 years too. There have been some tough times, and you certainly don’t write that in a profile. There is a positive spin really, however. I’ve been on an unexpected journey of self-discovery. I have found out what I’m made of. I’m blessed and lucky to have a good education and a persistent nature. My kids really are amazing, and I have bootstrapped it back to a fragile financial stability.

Life is good. Enough blogging...now off to the county fair with my bestie!
