# How to Enable Single Click to Open an Item in Windows 8

When we want to open any file or folder we use double-click but in [Windows](https://www.mindstick.com/articles/12793/insightful-review-of-stellar-phoenix-windows-data-recovery-home-edition) 8 we can open any file or folder using singe-click. This [feature](https://www.mindstick.com/forum/541/what-is-new-feature-in-sql-server-2012) is [useful](https://www.mindstick.com/articles/12694/how-dolomite-mineral-is-useful-in-human-life) when we have lots of [file and folder](https://www.mindstick.com/interview/2587/explain-in-brief-about-the-important-file-and-folder-when-you-create-new-android-application) to open.\

If your folder or files open on [double click](https://www.mindstick.com/forum/156225/differentiate-between-google-adword-and-double-click) then you can change it only as single click.

***Follow below steps to enable single click for open an item on windows.***

1. First you have need to open [Control](https://yourviews.mindstick.com/view/83439/bipartisan-gun-control-bill-passed-in-us-after-decades) panel

2. Now [Select](https://www.mindstick.com/forum/34066/use-select-operator-in-linq) Appearance and Personalization

3. After open Appearance and Personalization, now open

4. Now will be open a window and this window have several [options](https://www.mindstick.com/articles/12789/best-options-for-a-home-based-business) tab. basically select General option of a tab.

After selected options, tap on apply button for save settings on windows.
