# Brainchild of Jean Claude Bastos de Morais, Fábrica De Sabão, is helping reduce poverty

The African continent is lagging behind in economy. Yet, it has a lot of potential to grow. Jean Claude Bastos de Morais, the founder of Quantum Global Group, says that the [introduction](https://www.mindstick.com/blog/359/iphone-development-introduction) of informal markets into the formal African economy can help reduce poverty. Jean Claude Bastos de Morais has put this idea into practice through his project, Fábrica de Sabão, Angola’s first innovation hub. According to Mr Bastos de Morais, these niches will help ‘need-based and localized innovation to thrive’. Innovation will help cover immediate needs of the Angolan consumers [while driving](https://answers.mindstick.com/qa/98903/how-to-stay-safe-while-driving-car-during-winter) up the entrepreneurial culture. The millennials of Angola have been forged by technology, [social media](https://www.mindstick.com/articles/1843/impact-of-social-media-in-seo), music, and most importantly, the desire to create. Angola’s financial and technological sector will receive a lot of assistance with such a progressive environment. In the middle of an Angolan slum, Fábrica de Sabão once used to stand as a [soap factory](https://yourviews.mindstick.com/story/3013/oldest-soap-factory). It has now been refurbished and made into a common platform for Angolan innovators to come together, innovate, and share ideas. Shipping containers in the factory have been fashioned as different sections, where Wi-Fi is available along with comfortable furniture. Entrepreneurs and startups can use the space and tools provided to work on their projects. The ‘makerspace’ in this innovation hub includes equipment like smelter, CNC machines, welding machine, measurement tools and most important of all, a [3D printer](https://answers.mindstick.com/qa/110968/what-is-a-3d-printer). All of these can assist the young innovators to make prototypes. While the hub satiates the hunger for innovation, the garden-cum-farm surrounding the hub satiates real hunger. [Modernization](https://yourviews.mindstick.com/view/83442/benefits-of-agnipath-scheme-in-the-military-modernization) of agriculture is also needed since Angola ranks high in the hunger statistics. [Sustainable agriculture](https://answers.mindstick.com/qa/112767/how-do-americans-support-local-farmers-and-sustainable-agriculture) needs value-added options that can increase yield and shorten the time taken to grow crops while retaining fertility of the crops. The hub has become a center of attention for [international](https://answers.mindstick.com/qa/108356/how-does-the-international-criminal-court-address-human-rights-violations) artists, entrepreneurs, and inventors. Many of them have held workshops to fuel the local children with creativity, knowledge, and hope. Soon Fábrica de Sabão will release its own [radio station](https://answers.mindstick.com/qa/39291/which-of-the-following-is-the-india-s-first-online-radio-station), and offer classes in [broadcasting](https://answers.mindstick.com/qa/44903/who-is-the-minister-of-textiles-minister-of-information-and-broadcasting) and media. This commendable initiative taken by Jean Claude Bastos de Morais is cornering poverty in Angola. He hopes to introduce many similar hubs across Africa to turn this continent into a center of innovation. If more tycoons like Jean Bastos de Morais take such steps, soon Africa will lose its ill repute as a hungry and poor continent. \
