# Count Workdays between Two Dates in Excel

In an [office](https://www.mindstick.com/articles/43968/the-most-annoying-things-happening-in-an-office), there is [common](https://yourviews.mindstick.com/story/1215/the-most-common-sexually-transmitted-infections) use of calculating total working [days between two](https://answers.mindstick.com/qa/43849/write-a-program-in-c-language-to-find-total-days-between-two-dates-input-in-dd-mm-yyyy-format) given date. Excel provides NETWORKDAYS [function](https://www.mindstick.com/articles/43970/purchase-suitable-wedding-dresses-for-your-wedding-function) for calculating working days. It returns the number of whole working days between start_date and end_date. Working days [exclude](https://www.mindstick.com/forum/1756/wpf-linq-a-collection-to-include-or-exclude-items) weekends and any dates identified in holidays. It is very useful to calculate [employee benefits](https://www.mindstick.com/articles/311981/6-reasons-to-offer-an-employee-benefits-program) that accrue based on the number of days worked during a period. Steps are given below\

##### Syntax

NETWORKDAYS(start_date,end_date,holidays)

Step 1: First create [excel sheet](https://www.mindstick.com/forum/23040/to-import-excel-sheet-into-sql-database) with some dummy data as below

Note: If you want to reduce Sunday from total working days then also maintain Sunday as holiday in excel sheet.
