Be a 21st Century Shopper and Use Your Amazon Echo for Holiday Shopping

It's time to start taking full advantage of the tech age we live in. Skip the hectic and unpleasant atmosphere of the mall during the holiday season and use your Amazon Echo to get all of your shopping done from the comfort of your home! Passive network taps are not a problem when you're using the Echo. They are an extremely reliable way to navigate the online shopping world with ease.

Some Tips on How to Use Amazon Echo to Shop

As you shop, you can ask your Echo device to send you a link or photo of the item to your smartphone. This can be nice since you may want to share that photo with your partner or children to quickly make some decisions on the right gift.

Once you decide on an item you want, all you do is tell your Amazon Echo that you want to order it.

"Alexa (or 'Echo' if you chose to re-name your device), order me the Giant Inflatable Pizza Slice Pool Float."

Your Amazon Echo will look up the item and tell you the exact price of the item including fees, taxes, and shipping costs. Then it will ask you again if you are sure you want to purchase it. Once you have confirmed you want it, Amazon Echo will buy it for you using the billing information you have saved in your Amazon account. It will also let you know the exact time that your purchase is set to be arriving on your doorstep. Amazon Echo can even set up a notification in your phone to remind you.

Some Problems You May Run Into

Sometimes your Amazon Echo may have some difficulties purchasing an item if you don't have the exact name of the item correct on Amazon. Be sure when you order it that you are getting the name exactly right. This will reduce a lot of confusion and guarantee that you're buying what you think you're buying.

Sometimes Amazon Echo can run into some issues trying to purchase a specific brand item for clothing. It is better at finding the top-rated or best-selling jeans and ordering those for you. Trying to search for a specific brand and type of jeans is much more difficult for the Echo to locate. Better to purchase items with the device that aren't so specific.

If you run into any problems with voice purchasing, you can go to your Alexa app and manage settings.

Some people have run into some issues with purchasing something without meaning to use the Amazon Echo. There are easy ways to eliminate this problem. If you go into your voice management settings, you can set up a voice confirmation code that Amazon Echo will ask you to say before it purchases anything for you. The 4-digit confirmation code must be said out loud before anything can be ordered and charged to your account. Also, if you do accidentally buy something or have second thoughts about an item, Amazon Echo makes it easy for you to cancel the item and start a refund.

The Future of Voice Shopping

Amazon was the first of its competitors to offer this innovative service of using your voice to shop. Other companies have caught on and are following suit. Big companies like Target and WalMart are beginning to release their own voice assistant devices by partnering with Google to design a device. So far, they haven't had much success but it's clear that the desire for these devices is growing. Before we know it, most households in America may have a little electronic secretary sitting on their tabletops ready to help.

The exciting part about this tech development is its ability to help out individuals who may not be able to leave their homes. From the elderly to those people living with disabilities, voice-assisting devices like Amazon Echo can be a life-changing device for some.
