There are an ever-increasing demand and requirement of today’s educational system to guarantee that students are well-appointed for the labor pool and navigate a complex world. According to a research, the technology-based teaching methods help support learning, develop the skills of critical thinking, analysis, and scientific inquiry.

The effectiveness of technology-based teaching methods:

The use of technology has become widespread in the educational institutions and has been shown to assist in the achievement of student learning objectives. There is an ample proof that involvement of technology of any kind, in the teaching methods help in enhancement of student learning and educational outcomes. Technology has been found to boost concentration and engagement. Students who use technology:

1.        Are more involved in collaborative learning

2.        Participation in project-based instructions

3.        Produce higher quality writing

4.        Gain more access to information

5.        Improve research analysis skills

Differences in today’s classroom and the traditional one:

i.   Our current educational system is outcome based; meaning that today teachers and students are more focused on the results. What do the students learn and what are the important factors that help them in learning more efficiently. This is what matters today the most. New tools such as iPads, laptops, mobile phones etc have made learning much more easy and entertaining.

On the other hand, old educational institutions were time-based. Teachers focus on how long the lectures they will have to deliver. The measure of students’ learning was of no concern.

ii.        What do the students know and how to apply their knowledge is the main concern in today’s education rather than the memorization of discrete facts. Clearance of the concepts is regarded important by the new teachers. Nowadays, they use creative ways of delivering their lectures with the help of technology which assist the learners to apply their information in something practical.

iii.      Books are considered as the traditional method of providing information. Teachers and students both benefited from them to deliver lectures and learn the written content. But today, the educators emphasize on conducting a research. They don’t just focus on the written text of the books, rather they search the internet for more detailed information.

iv.      In the earlier times, people used to hold their books and learn from it in isolation. No discussions were held neither among the fellow students nor between the teacher and the student. Now, the internet has provided a platform where anyone from anywhere can share or ask for information about anything. One get instant feedback on their shared information, receive answers to their questions from the experts. The teachers work with students as a team to learn anything new and informative. So there exists collaboration among the learners.

The great advancement in understanding cognition has been a major accomplishment of the twentieth century. Cognition refers to the mental processes of thinking, analyzing, perceiving and remembering. Effective learning requires:

1)        Active participation

2)        Interactions and feedback

3)        Application to real-world context

For providing this type of learning, technology has played an important role. For example, working on projects and designing different presentations, using graphics for the illustration, promotion of the accomplished projects etc expand the scope for gaining more knowledge.
